Tech company CLEAR (WEBSITE: CLEAR ME) has announced a partnership with LinkedIn to validate LinkedIn profile identities. While the move is a step in the right direction, the optional opt-in nature of Identity Verification doesn't really solve the problem of forcing FAKE IDENTITIES off the platform. Instead, this validates only those who opt-in and increases overall mistrust, at least until everyone who is legitimate has this. Those who have turned on the option and verified their identity can only have surety by networking with other verified people. While this is not perfect, it is a good start, Well done LinkedIn and CLEAR.

It is my view that IDENTITY VERIFICATION become MANDATORY across all social media platforms. Wherever people talk about money and share links for transactions through conversations, KYC/AML/CTF standards must be a fundamental.
